PLOWS Council on Aging has Caregiver Specialist staff trained to deal with issues specific to those providing care to a loved one. Courses and support groups are offered throughout the year. Goals include reducing stress, education, and finding appropriate services. Caregivers are not alone.

Tips on Hiring a Caregiver
Hiring a caregiver can be overwhelming. Janet Linehan, In-Home Services Coordinator for PLOWS Council on Aging, will present “Hiring a Caregiver” on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, from 5:30 to 7:00pm at PLOWS’ office, 7808 College Drive – 5th floor, Palos Heights. This seminar is geared toward helping family members recognize when it is time to hire a caregiver and offers support in coming to terms with that decision. Janet will provide information about hiring a paid caregiver, working with reputable agencies, and adjusting to the transitions that accompany having a paid caregiver. Seating is limited. Early Stage Memory Loss Group
If you or a loved one is experiencing early stage memory loss, please join us for this supportive, informative group. PLOWS Council on Aging, partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association, is offering a group that provides education, emotional support, and social interaction in a safe supportive environment. The group is held in Hickory Hills on the third Thursday of the month from 11:30AM-1PM. Space is limited. An interview is required prior to attending the group. There is no fee to participate.
